Speaker 3:We bring you the best original music you will ever hear.
Speaker 3:Scream of steel just woke the night. Running shadows in dead moonlight, cold wind bites my tired face. Every step I'm losing grace. Give it up for me. You see, drenched in dust and destiny Breaking through this cage, I own. Give it up or be alone. Be alone. Crack of thunder Split in skies, false love, whispers, feeding lies, breath of fire Burning my veins, trapped in cycles, endless chains Give it up for me. You see, drenched in dust and destiny Breaking through this cage, I own. Give it up or be alone. Guitar, solo, walking, tight ropes made of pain. Every blessing feels like rape Falling under, but I climb, screaming loud. This is my time. Give it up for me. You see, drenched in dust and destiny breaking through this cage, I own. Give it up or be alone. Guitar, solo, walking, tight ropes made of pain. Every blessing feels like rain Falling under, but I climb, screaming loud. This is my time. Give it up for me. You see, drenched in dust and destiny Breaking through this cage, I own. Give it up or be alone.
Speaker 2:Pizza paid for with jug of coins worth much more. I delivered pizza in high school One night. I had a delivery and it ended up being a couple of teenage stoners. They didn't have bills when I arrived, so instead they gave me a 5-gallon jug about half full of change. They told me they were going to count out the amount before I arrived, but forgot to. I took it back with me and counted the silver. If I remember right, I took it back with me and counted the silver. If I remember right, the pizza was around $14, and the amount I was given in change was around $105, not counting the pennies. I was allowed to keep all of it. Besides, the money owed for the pizza Damn jug was heavy.
Speaker 4:Please don't forget that May 26 is Memorial Day. Don't ever forget all of our soldiers who gave their full measure of devotion for our country.
Speaker 3:God bless them all Stomping music plays. Moonlight's bright, it guides the way. Fingers lace sneaking off. Today, meet me up in the sweet hay. Hey, hey, twinkling stars in the sky, so high, so high, so high. Your brown eyes make me fly. Laughter echoes, heartbeats tie. Love's a spark we can't deny. Kissing in the hayloft oh so sweet, so sweet. Two-step hearts. Where we meet, we meet. Hold me close, don't you drift away away away. Kissing in the hayloft at the town dance day hey, hey, hey, hey. The fiddle sings, we steal a tune. Dance floor's hot, but it's just past June. We sneak off under the silver moon In the hayloft. We'll rendezvous real soon. Don't tell them we're gone. Hay in our hair, hearts humming along. Time stands still, yet night moves strong. This moment feels like a country song. Kissing in the hayloft oh so sweet, so sweet. Two-step hearts. Where we meet, we meet.
Speaker 4:Hold me close, don't you drift away away away Kissing in the hayloft at the town dance day hey, hey. James Brown, known as the godfather of soul, this immensely talented American singer, songwriter and dancer emerged during the 1950s as a powerful force in a world of reed, soul and funk. With his James Brown electrifying stage presence, explosive dance moves and innovative musical style that incorporated elements of gospel, blues and jazz, he crafted numerous hit songs that would go on to inspire countless musicians across genres. Today, he remains an enduring symbol of artistic excellence. Superhighways, coast to coast, easy to get.
Speaker 3:Anywhere On the first, on the middle Overload, just lie behind the wheel Hard to feel. When there's no destination, let's jump up and somewhere on the way you might find out who you are.
Speaker 1:Alan McGee lived through a plane crash. World War II Air Force Sergeant Alan McGee was part of a B-17 Flying Fortress crew that was hit by German fire during a mission. The airman not only found himself plummeting towards the planet's surface in the wreckage of his plane, but he had also been hit by gunfire during the attack. Yet miraculously, he still managed to eject himself from the aircraft himself. From the aircraft Falling through the air, mcgee found that his parachute wouldn't work as it had been damaged, meaning he was in free fall when he crashed through the glass ceiling of a train station. Bizarrely, this glass ceiling actually managed to save his life, cushioning the fall enough so that he only had some minor injuries.
Speaker 3:I saw you sitting at a cafe in Paris. I know I saw you and I know you saw me. I heard you went back to that dude from Missouri. I know he was always a better man than me. I'm sorry, girl, for every time that I hurt you and for every time that you were mean to me. And I'm sorry, girl, that I can't say I miss you. You said you were leaving. You didn't say where you'd be. Oh, your blues are mine. Oh, I don't want to be right. Oh, if you're with him tonight, oh, I hope he holds you tight. I was walking by the house where you lived and I was thinking of all the times that you lied. I was wondering if I was the one who broke you and if you knew I never meant to make you cry. I know you know that I still know your number. I know you know you can always call me. I know you know that I will always love you. I know you know that I know you love me.
Speaker 5:All your blues are mine.
Speaker 3:Oh, I don't want to be right. Oh, if you're with him tonight, oh, I hope he holds you tight.
Speaker 6:I was reading a library book before bed one night when I was a teenager. It was something really boring. I had checked out for a history project for school and I couldn't keep my eyes open. I fell asleep with it on my bed. I had like a sleep paralysis event happen and I watched this shadowy figure of a man walk into my room, look around, pick up a few knick-knacks and put them back down. It was so terrifying. My entire body was screaming to move, but I couldn't not even my fingers. I just wanted to scream for help, but nothing happened, no matter how desperately I tried.
Speaker 6:I finally got enough courage to look at the man, but he wouldn't come into focus. For some reason he was just a shadow, like he wasn't fully there. He came up to the side of my bed and stood over me looking down at me for what felt like forever. I was so terrified, but I couldn't move a muscle. Then he reached down, grabbed my library book and turned, walking out of my room. I never found that library book ever, after tearing apart my room and my house. My mom said it was a coping dream for losing the book, but I distinctly remember falling asleep reading it that night, and I even had sent a text to my boyfriend that Throughout America's history, courageous men and women have sacrificed their lives for the freedom we enjoy today.
Speaker 7:With unparalleled devotion, they faced the brutality of war With uncommon bravery. They fought against savage enemies, but each of them felt no higher calling than to protect the liberty we hold dear, regardless of the cost.
Speaker 5:Walking down this lonesome street, barefoot, dreams and aching feet. The sun's been up. It burns my skin. Life keeps knocking. I let it in. Whiskey whispers in my ear, drowning shadows, drowning fear. The cards I play they're torn and stained, but I'm still living through the pain. The cards I play they're torn and stained, but I'm still living through the pain. Oh, life keeps spinning round and round. Pick me up when I'm beating down. Ain't no map to where I'm going. We'll be right back. Hands, built a tower on sinking sands, felt that thunder, tasted rain, but I'd do it all over again. The cracks in the pavement tell my story. Not all of it pretty, but it's my own glory. These weary songs are the notes of my soul. Broken pieces still make me whole. Oh, life keeps spinning round and round. Pick me up when I'm beaten down. Ain't no map to where I'm going, but I'll keep moving. Winds are blowing, oh oh, winds are blowing.
Speaker 6:Oh, oh, news and grooves a veteran supportive podcast.
Speaker 5:If.
Speaker 3:I had the time to tell you All the thoughts I hide away. The words would paint the evening sky and chase the night to stay, to stay. If I had the time to show you the stories etched inside my heart, I'd weave them like a tapestry but don't know where to start. Oh the clock. It always ticks too fast. The moments slip like grains of sand. But if I had just one more chance, I'd hold the world within my hand. If I had the time to hold you Before tomorrow, stole the light, I'd spin the stars around your name and guard your dreams through the night. Time's a thief. It won't stop moving. Yet here I stand. My heart is proven that even now, with words so few, I'd give my all to just reach you. Oh the clock, it always ticks too fast. The moment slipped like grains of sand. But if I had just one more chance, I'd hold the world within my hand.
Speaker 1:Thanks for coming in and listening on this special month. We are out of here.
